Approach and anchoring
Alsea Bay has no jetties and a shifting bar with around 6 feet at the entrance; outgoing springs run 5 to 7 knots through the gap. Local knowledge or settled conditions required. The marina sits about 1 mile inside, north shore, just east of the Alsea Bay Bridge.
Practical
Public boat launch, transient moorage, ADA-accessible kayak launch and a multi-use dock for crabbing and fishing. The Dock of the Bay shop rents skiffs and crab rings, sells shellfish licences, bait and tackle, and cooks crab. Contact 541 961 7948.
Ashore
Old Town Waldport shops and eateries within 5 minutes on foot. Historic Alsea Bay Bridge Interpretive Center and Waldport Museum at the south end of the bridge. Beaches north and south of the bar accessible by road.
