Approach and anchoring

Decize is the junction point between the Canal latéral à la Loire and the Canal du Nivernais. Passage between the two goes through a short section of the Loire, navigable only at sufficient water levels.

Practical

80 berths on the canal basin. Next free halte 5,5 nautical miles west along the Canal latéral; Tourisme Fluvial du Centre hire base is 14,5 nautical miles north-west.

Ashore

Old town on an island between the Loire and the Vieille Loire, with the Saint-Aré crypt dating from the Merovingian period. Weekly market on Friday morning.
