Approach and anchoring
Reached via the canal des Ardennes, between locks on the Aisne branch. Low bridges and 38.5 m lock chambers limit air draught and length. No current, straight approach to the quay.

4 berths along a fixed quay. Water point on the quay. Bakery and grocery in Château-Porcien village on the opposite bank of the Aisne, about 700 m from the quay.
Ashore
Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre in Château-Porcien village, about 800 m from the quay. Towpath walks along the canal des Ardennes in both directions. Rethel, 4.9 NM east, has full shops and a railway station.
History
Château-Porcien was the seat of the medieval county of Porcéan, held by the house of Roucy from the 11th century. The castle that gave the place its name was dismantled during the Wars of Religion.
