Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Mississippi River through Buras and the marsh waterways of lower Plaquemines Parish. Shallow marsh channels around the harbour, so a fuller draught yacht should sound carefully. The delta here is low and changing, with few landmarks above the spoil banks.
Practical
Delta Marina lies 3.9 miles to the north-west with a back-down launch ramp, fuel sold ashore or on the water, tackle and frozen or live bait. Joshua's Marine also operates from Buras Boat Harbor Road. Cypress Cove Marina is 11.1 miles to the south-east for fuel and a fuller range of services.
