Approach and anchoring
Access from the Rhône navigable waterway, PK 186 area. The Bollène lock to the south is one of the deepest single-chamber locks in Europe with a 23 m lift. Contact VNF for lock passage. Current runs with the river flow, stronger in spring.
Practical
Two berths, depth up to 3.5 m alongside. No services on the pontoon itself. Nearest fuel, water and provisions are in Bollène town, roughly 3 km to the east.
Ashore
Town of Bollène at 3 km, with weekly market on Monday morning at place de la Mairie. Romanesque collegiate church of Saint-Martin from the 11th century in the old centre. Mornas fortress 8 km south on the D26.
History
The Donzère-Mondragon scheme, opened in 1952, diverted the Rhône through a 28 km canal to power the André-Blondel hydroelectric plant, then the largest in France.
