Approach and anchoring
Access through the Colmar branch of the Canal du Rhône au Rhin, VNF locks on standard canal hours. Speed limit 6 km/h inside the canal, clear approach from either direction.

Fuel station listed in port services. Alongside moorings at the canal basin. Shops, bakery and restaurants in Biesheim village. Colmar 8.4 nm to the W for full provisioning and rail.
Ashore
Musée Gallo-Romain de Biesheim, with finds from the Roman fort of Oedenburg dug on the town's outskirts. Neuf-Brisach, Vauban fortress listed UNESCO World Heritage since 2008, 2 km to the S. Rhine towpath cycle route EuroVelo 15 passes through the town.
History
Biesheim sits on the site of the Roman military complex of Oedenburg, active from the 1st to the 4th century AD and excavated since the 1970s. The town later anchored the French defensive line along the Rhine, reinforced by Vauban's star-shaped town of Neuf-Brisach built from 1698.
