Approach and anchoring
On the Canal de la Lys, reached via the Deule and the Neuf-Fosse canal from the Dunkirk-Escaut waterway network. Lock operation by VNF. Low current. Air draught governed by canal bridges at around 3.4 m.
Practical
Pontoon mooring for hire boats and visiting craft. Water and electricity at the base. Bakery and grocery in Merville at walking distance from the moorings.
Ashore
Flat agricultural Flanders plain, cycle route EuroVelo 5 Via Romea Francigena passes nearby. Bailleul and its Flemish belfry, part of the UNESCO listing of Belfries of Belgium and France, at 15 km. La Coupole V2 launch bunker museum at Helfaut, 25 km west.
