Bayside marina in the hamlet of Atlantique on Fire Island, fronting Great South Bay on the barrier island's narrow midsection, Long Island.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approached from Great South Bay, sheltered behind the Fire Island barrier between Long Island and the Atlantic. The bay carries modest depths, so check draught against local charts on the run in.
Practical
More than 150 berths with fresh water and shore power, 24-hour showers and a beachside bar and restaurant. The hamlet holds fewer than 50 homes, with lifeguarded bay and ocean swimming, a playground and pickleball, volleyball and basketball courts.
Ashore
The Atlantic surf beach is a short walk across the island, under 1 km wide here. Fire Island National Seashore protects 26 miles of the barrier island, with marked walking trails through the dunes from the bayside.
History
A marina has operated at Atlantique since 1912. Since 2024 the site has been run jointly by Strong's Marina and Al Grovers High and Dry.
