Alred Marina
- Type
- Harbour
Full-service marina on Lake Guntersville, on the Tennessee River near mile 357 in northeast Alabama.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Set in a cove off the main river channel, reached on flat impounded water with no tidal constraint. The pool sits behind Guntersville Dam, so levels are managed rather than tidal. Fuel berth open around the clock.
Practical
Berths up to 80 feet, mostly covered. On-site marine repair, haul-out and tram, and a chandlery. Four shower blocks, laundry and a self-service pump-out. Swimming pool, splash pad and a grilling area form a family complex on the grounds.
Ashore
A walking trail and picnic area run along the marina grounds. Islands Boat Rental operates pontoon hire from the same site. The town of Guntersville lies about 2.5 nautical miles south for shops and provisions.
History
The marina was built in the 1950s by the Alred family of Guntersville. Bill and Judy Cranford bought it in 1996. The cove was Cherokee land before the TVA flooded the valley, cutting this ground off from the Guntersville peninsula.
