Guide
Approach and anchoring
The bay opens to the north-east and is reached from Hinchinbrook Entrance. Holding is on mud and weed. Anchor in the western reaches, sheltered from the prevailing south-easterly weather. The bay stays exposed to winds with a northerly or easterly component.
Ashore
Montague Island is uninhabited. The shoreline and shallows of Zaikof Bay are among the most productive marine wildlife grounds in Prince William Sound, fed by nutrient-rich water from Hinchinbrook Entrance. Watch for sea otters, seals and seabirds.
