Approach and anchoring
Reached from the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway via the Palacios Channel, about four miles long, dredged to a 125 ft width and 14 ft depth. The channel is marked by lights and daybeacons, and its entrance is protected by two breakwaters.
Practical
41 slips with 20 transient berths, fixed docks, approach and dockside depth around 5 ft. Maximum vessel length 45 ft. Shore power at 30 and 50 amp with metered electric, fresh water, and a harbour-side fuel depot.
Story
Palacios is known as the shrimp capital of Texas, with a working shrimping, oystering and shellfish fleet.
