River halt on the Marne at Trélou-sur-Marne in the Aisne, attached to the municipal campsite of the same name, in the Champagne hills opposite Dormans.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Pontoon on the left bank of the Marne, accessed via the campsite. Marne navigable at Freycinet gauge with 1.80 m draught. Current manageable outside winter freshets.
Practical
Short pontoon with a few berths, at about 7 euros a night for a boat over 10 metres, water and electricity charged on top and arranged at the campsite reception. Sanitary block and showers shared with the two-star municipal campsite. Small village shop in Trélou-sur-Marne, larger supermarkets in Dormans across the river, 2 km away. Railway station about a 15 minute walk away.
Ashore
Canoe and kayak hire from the campsite. Mémorial des Batailles de la Marne in Dormans, 2 km by road. Tennis court and mini-golf on site. Signposted walks into the Champagne vineyards start from the village church, and the Piot-Sévillano champagne house at Vincelles is within reach.
Story
The halt takes its name from the parish church whose bell tower stands directly above the campsite on the hillside.
