Marina of 523 berths on the Côte Bleue, between Carry-le-Rouet and Martigues, west of Marseille.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Entrance from the south-east, marked by red and green lights at the jetty heads, uncomfortable and best avoided in a southerly or easterly wind. Max draught 2.5 m. Mistral from NW funnels into the approach and raises short seas outside the breakwater. Berthing is stern-to the quay on a heavy ground chain that crews lift to reeve their own line through, so rig a line of no more than 12 mm and expect the chain to be rusty and to mark the deck. VHF 9 for the harbour office.
Practical
523 berths, fuel berth with diesel and petrol, water and electricity on the pontoons. Visitor space is limited to about a dozen berths and cannot be booked, call the office about an hour before arrival on VHF 9. The office closes from 12 to 14h and is not always staffed on Sundays or out of hours, so boats may have to berth unassisted. Sanitary blocks are clean. Rates are low, around 26 euros for a boat of about 10 metres. Shops, bakery, a Carrefour City and the Top Fishing tackle shop within 200 m, train station at 400 m.
Ashore
GR 51 coastal path runs east along the Côte Bleue cliffs towards Carry-le-Rouet at 3.5 km. Calanque des Eaux Salées with a small pebble beach at 1 km on foot. Côte Bleue marine park, a no-take zone for professional fishing, starts just offshore.
