Approach and anchoring

Approach from the south, holding clear of the limestone cliffs on both sides of the entrance and of an isolated shallow rock close on the port hand on the way in, favouring the Cap Méjean side. The inlet narrows quickly, room for only a handful of boats. Fully open to the SE, untenable in any S to E breeze. Mistral gusts funnel down the valley but ground swell stays moderate.

Practical

Forain anchoring on sand with patches of posidonia in the centre, drop clear of the weed. Holding reported good on clean sand. No pontoon, no water, no services. Small beach hamlet ashore with a seasonal restaurant, no provisioning. Calanque du Petit Méjean 0.1 NM NW, Société Nautique des Figuières 0.4 NM W.

Ashore

Sentier du littoral runs along the clifftops in both directions, linking Petit Méjean, Niolon and Ensuès-la-Redonne. A small sea cave at the head of the calanque can be reached by swimming, and a torch helps to see inside. Côte Bleue marine park starts here, snorkelling allowed, spearfishing and anchoring in posidonia forbidden. Ensuès-la-Redonne village and train station about 3 km inland on foot by the GR 51.
