Port de la Mercantine
- Type
- Harbour
Lake harbour on the Lac de Vouglans reservoir, in the Jura mountains, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Freshwater lake, no tide, no salinity. Reservoir level varies by several metres through the season with hydroelectric operations by EDF. Some slipways and pontoons may be out of the water in late summer and autumn when the level drops. The launch ramp is gravelly and shoal at its foot, so mind the depth when using it. Speed limit applies on the lake.
Practical
Small harbour used mainly by local motorboats and sailing dinghies. A guinguette stands on site, but there are no shops nearby. The entry badge works at La Mercantine only, not at Port du Meix or Pont de Poitte, so it cannot be used to land at the other harbours. Berthing is on the expensive side. Nearest ports on the same lake are Port du Meix 3.5 NM north and Port de la Saisse 7 NM north.
