Approach and anchoring

Reached from the Canal lateral a la Garonne, managed by VNF and part of the Canal des Deux Mers between Bordeaux and Sete. Locks operate on the VNF summer schedule. Weed clogs the port and the reach towards Castets-en-Dorthe and can foul rudders and block engine intakes, so even a shallow-draught boat needs to take it slowly. Meilhan-sur-Garonne lies 3.4 NM to the SE, Castets-en-Dorthe 5.4 NM to the W at the junction with the Garonne.

Quiet canal stop with 30 berths, water and electricity. Village shop and bakery in Fontet, larger supermarkets at La Reole, 8 km by road.

Ashore

Lac de Fontet, a 28 hectare bathing and fishing lake, lies adjacent to the port with a beach and walking circuit. The Voie Verte du Canal des Deux Mers cycle route runs along the towpath, leading to La Reole 8 km E and Castets-en-Dorthe 10 km W.
