Approach and anchoring

Entered from the Rhône navigation channel at PK 156, turning in the channel to come in heading upstream and following the marked leads; the current runs hard, stronger during release from the upstream dams. Depths are thin and silt-prone: a keel of about 1.4 m touches the mud, and at low river level only the first pontoon may be reachable. Approach the pontoon on the south side of the basin.

Practical

60 berths on pontoons, water and electricity on the quay, though the basin holds many laid-up and derelict boats. The office is at the Cruas campsite 800 m away, where English is spoken; one shower for visitors. Around 24 euros a night for a 10 metre boat, water and electricity included. Nearest fuel at Le Pouzin 6.2 NM to the N; Viviers 10.6 NM to the S has a larger river port.

Ashore

Medieval village of Cruas 1 km inland with the 11th century Romanesque abbey church of Sainte-Marie, listed monument historique. The family-run restaurant l'Eden at the Cruas campsite, which also runs the marina, is well regarded. The Cruas nuclear power station, recognisable by its mural fresco, stands on the riverbank just downstream.
