Approach and anchoring

Accessed via the Canal des Ardennes at lock 26 on the Pont-a-Bar branch. Air draught limited by canal bridges at roughly 3.5 m. Low current. Lock operation follows VNF Ardennes schedule.

Practical

Around 5 berths, water and electricity at the pontoon. Diesel at the fuel station on site, with a small chandlery stocking charts and essentials, a boatyard and a mechanic. Berthing is around 12 euros a night for a 10 m boat, and winter storage is cheap. Base for hire boats on the Meuse and Canal des Ardennes. Shops in Dom-le-Mesnil at 1 km.

Voie verte Trans-Ardennes towpath passes directly alongside, 85 km of traffic-free cycling between Mouzon and Monthermé. Village of Dom-le-Mesnil at 1 km with bakery and bar. Sedan castle, the largest fortified castle in Europe by footprint, at 12 km by road.
