Sand bottom. Sheltered only from NE through E to SE, open to the west and to the winter swells that bring surfers to Rincón.

Beach ashore, no yacht facilities. Shops in Rincón town, to the north.
Ashore
The Punta Higüero lighthouse, built in 1892 and still active, stands 4.4 km north; its grounds are open, not the tower. From January to March humpback whales pass close inshore, sometimes within 100 m of the coast.
