Approach and anchoring

Approach from the west, clear water. Bottom is sand, holding generally good. Sheltered from N, NE, E and SE winds, fully open to the west and to libeccio swell. Anchor to the left of the entrance channel on sand in about 5 m, behind the local buoys. In season a line of buoys marks the 300 m zone and cuts the room. Watch for abandoned chains and mooring lines lying on the bottom.

Practical

No services. Porto-Ota 2.6 NM SE for small harbour facilities and village amenities. Port de Girolata 3.5 NM NW, reachable only by sea or footpath, basic services.

Ashore

Two restaurants sit on the beach, the U Caspiu the better known, with a simpler one alongside. The beach is shingle, so bring shoes. The coastal footpath linking Girolata and the Scandola nature reserve passes about 3.5 NM to the NW. The UNESCO-listed Golfe de Porto, with the Calanche de Piana cliffs, lies just south of the anchorage.
