Guide
Approach and anchoring
Approach from the open sea in deep water. Keep clear of the rocky area off Îlot de Pinarello where the tower stands, at the north end of the bay. Sand holding with rocky patches, so drop in clear sand; the hold is good over a wide band in 4 to 5 m before the yellow buoys, and boats have ridden out a strong westerly. The bay is deep with plenty of room, open to the east; its south end gives better shelter in west and south winds.
Practical
Anchorage with a yellow buoy field reserved for local residents. Land the dinghy on the small harbour beach to the left of the main pontoon, or at the sailing school pier after 7pm; bins are by the pier. Nearest shelter is Marina di Fiori 5.7 nm SW, then Quilichi 6.2 nm SW. Shops, restaurants and water at Pinarello village behind the beach.
Ashore
Long sand beach of Pinarello, about 2 km, runs the length of the bay, with the Aiguilles de Bavella as a backdrop inland. Genoese tower of Pinarello on the islet, built in the 16th century, listed monument historique, accessible on foot at low water. In the village the Epicerie le Patio grocery carries local produce, and the Stella Bianco on the seafront doubles as a restaurant and bakery. Other shops are few.
