Guide
Approach and anchoring
Navily marks the bay as sheltered from every sector except the north-west. Sand, rock and weed bottom. Most of the inner bay is a buoyed swim area: running any boat inside its boundary is an offence punishable by a fine.
Practical
No moorings. Anchor outside the swim area and land passengers by dinghy: the Virgin Islands Open Shoreline Act guarantees access to the beach from the water.
History
Arthur S. Fairchild, a New York financier, gave the beach and the land behind it to the municipality of St. Thomas and St. John in 1946 as a public park.
