Homer Deep Water Dock

Homer, United StatesPrince William Sound and Kenai
Type
Harbour

Commercial freight and cruise dock at the tip of the Homer Spit, on Kachemak Bay in Alaska, about 4.5 miles from downtown Homer.

Guide

Approach and anchoring

The dock sits at the seaward end of a 4.5 mile gravel spit reaching into Kachemak Bay. Tides here are large, with a mean range near 20 ft, and currents run hard near the constrictions of Cook Inlet. The dock has inside, outer-face and trestle berths. Contact the harbour master on VHF.

Practical

This is the freight berth used by cargo vessels, the State ferry and cruise ships, not a leisure marina. Pleasure craft use the Homer small boat harbour nearby. The harbour master's office is on Freight Dock Road.
