Guide
Approach and anchoring
Maximum depth 12.3 metres, the second deepest bay in Puerto Rico after San Juan. Sand and weed bottom. Sheltered from every direction except the south and south-east.
Practical
Anchoring permitted. The bay is managed by the DRNA and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority, and a reserve military unit still uses part of the shore.
History
The bay hosted the Roosevelt Roads US Naval Station until the base closed in March 2004. Its wartime expansion took about 47 percent of Ceiba's land and displaced more than 4,000 residents.
