Full-service marina inside Deep Creek on the north shore of the James River at Newport News, Virginia, about 20 miles upriver from Hampton Roads.
Guide
Approach and anchoring
Enter from the James River into Deep Creek, a sheltered inlet running NE to SW. The creek and its steep surrounding terrain cut down the effect of severe weather, which makes the basin a recognised hurricane hole. Transient berths are available on floating piers.
Practical
Around 80 berths: 40 open wet berths, 14 covered, 4 jet-ski docks and 24 lift berths. Wet berths take vessels up to 65 feet. Fuel berth with petrol and diesel, plus a pump-out and waste dump station. Boatyard with haul-out and repair services.
Ashore
Menchville Marina lies 0.2 nm S and Warwick Yacht & Country Club 0.1 nm NE, both within the same creek. A youth summer sailing camp runs from the marina.
