Approach and anchoring

Southerly approach from the northern Marseille roadstead, marked entrance between the breakwaters. Maximum draught 4.3 m, one of the deepest in the bay for deep-keeled yachts. Exposed to S and SE, well sheltered from the mistral by the Nerthe range to the NW. Harbour on VHF 9.

Practical

320 berths run by the City of Marseille, a working harbour geared to repair and wintering, with real trades on site, including the engine specialist Karukera Diesel. Book by phone; the office closes at weekends and VHF and email often go unanswered. Diesel berth, water and electricity on the pontoons. Showers are dated, pressure and hot water unreliable; laundry with a washer at 6 euros and dryer at 4 euros. About 37 euros a night for a 10 m boat, plus a waste levy.

Ashore

Corbières beaches below the harbour, sand and shingle, ten minutes on foot. The Carrefour City at L'Estaque, about a 15 minute walk, delivers groceries to the port, and bus 35 runs into central Marseille at La Joliette.
