Approach and anchoring
The west entrance is the main one, with a controlling depth of about 6 feet at mean low water through the channel. Anchorage lies south of the main channel; the City mooring field of 226 engineered moorings occupies the water north and east of it. Call Marathon City Marina on VHF 16.
Practical
The City of Marathon Marina runs the mooring field for vessels up to 60 feet and provides fresh water. Boatyards and chandlery are close by: Marathon Marina and Boatyard 0.7 miles to the north-east, and 15th Street Marina at Boot Key Harbor 0.9 miles north-east.
Ashore
Marathon town is within walking distance of the marina dinghy docks, with supermarkets, marine stores and restaurants. Sombrero Beach lies a short ride to the south-east.
