Approach and anchoring

Rocky bottom with algae patches, variable holding, and the anchor can hook under a rock, so rig an orin to trip it free. The clearer water lies around 5 to 7 m. Open to E, SE, S and SW, shelter from N and NW only. Areas nearer the Scandola boundary are closed to night anchoring, so drop outside them. Daytime approach, watch the rocky shore on both headlands.

Practical

No facilities ashore. Girolata 2.3 nm south has seasonal moorings and a beach restaurant cluster. Galéria 2.3 nm NE has a small jetty, water and a village shop.

Ashore

Réserve naturelle de Scandola, UNESCO World Heritage site since 1983, lies adjacent to the north. The Sentier du Facteur, the historic postman path, links Girolata to Galéria in about 5 hours on foot. Red porphyry cliffs and posidonia meadows define the protected seabed.
