A thousand miles of sheltered channels between Ketchikan and Glacier Bay, with no road and a harbour every 100 miles: Foggy Bay and Meyers Chuck after the border, Wrangell and Petersburg, Sitka on the Pacific side, Tenakee Springs and Hoonah, Auke Bay at Juneau, Reid Inlet below the glacier in Glacier Bay (park permit required in summer). A 6 metre tide, bears on the beaches, rain every other day.
